Born in Birmingham,Alabama on June 15th 1964, Courteney Bass Cox grew up with her parents (Richard and Courteney) and three older siblings, her brother Richard Jr and two sisters Virginia and Dottie. Although Courteney was names after both her mother and her grandmother she was daddy's girl. Courteney's parents divorced in 1974 and her father moved out the family home, Courteney was devastated and continued to live with her mother and siblings. A few years later both Courteney's parents re-married.
Courteney Attended 'Mountain Brook High', a public high school in Birmingham and enjoyed her teen life by playing tennis, swimming and cheerleading in her spare time. During her final year at high school Courteney appeared in the ad for the 'Parisians' store and then graduated Mountain Brook High in 1992.
From High school Courteney moved on to Washington to attend Mount Vernon College but after a year of studying architecture Courteney dropped out when a friend,Ian Copeland suggested she could make it into the acting and modelling business. Courteney got her first roles in magazines covers such as 'Tiger Beat' and 'Little Miss'. She then went on to appear in commercials such as Maybelline and Tampax.
In 1984 Courteney was chosen to play a part in Bruce Springsteen's music Video 'Dancing in the Dark'. After being discovered from the music video Courteney landed a role in the tv series 'The Misfits Of Science' but after four months the show was cancelled but Courteney went on to audition for the part of Lauren Miller in another tv series called 'Family Ties'. When the show ended after 2 years Courteney got parts in movies such as 'Blue Desert' and 'Cocoon:The Return'.
In 1994 Courteney got her big break when she got the role of Melissa Robinson in the Jim Carrey movie 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective'.Courteney's luck became even better shortly after when she was casted for the part of Monica Geller in the tv series 'Friends' which went on for a sucessful 10 years.
In 1996 Courteney got more roles in movies such as '3000 Miles To Graceland' and Wes Craven's 'Scream' Trilogy where she played Tv journalist Gale Weathers. In the first part of the trilogy Courteney met actor David Arquette who she was co-starring in the movie with. David played Dewey in the movies and the couple got together both on screen and off.
On June 12th 1999 Courteney and David were married and Courteney got other roles in movies such as ' The Runner' and 'The Shrink Is In'. On June 13th 2004 Courteney gave birth to her first child Coco Riley Arquette just 2 days before her birthday.
After taking some time out to be with her daughter Courteney made a comeback in the 2006 animated comedy 'Barnyard' where Courteney was the voice of Daisy the cow.Courteney will be returning to our screens in 2007 in her new drama/comedy show 'Dirt' produced by her and David's production company 'Coquette' where she plays the part of Lucy Spiller a tabloid editor.
